  • HTC One Review: Solid Built and Superlative Performance
altHTC launched its flagship HTC One Smartphone in the key international markets including India the device will be available by the end of April 2013. With dwindling profit and stiff completion form rival Apple and Samsung HTC is keeping lot of expectation from this device. It will take some time to gauge the success of HTC One Smart Phone but a quick review will make it easy for people to know about the Pros and Cons of this device.
 
Features and Specification:
HTC One is a high-end smart phone which is stuffed with some premium features and great specifications. The first thing that you notice in this phone is its large gorgeous 4.7-inch Super LCD 3 capacitive touch screen with a display resolution of 1920x1080 pixels giving it a pixel density of 469 PPi which higher than the existing 326 PPi of Apple iPhone 5 and 441 PPi of Samsung Galaxy S4. HTC One is powered by super-fast Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor clocked at 1.7GHz, with 2GB of RAM and Adreno 320 GPU. The phone comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 2 for better screen protection from everyday scratches and finger prints. HTC one comes with 32 GB of internal memory but without microSD card slot support but to balance on that it offers a massive 23GB of additional space on Dropbox so that you never run out of space for your favorite stuff. The Phone supports 3G, which is a sort of standard in every other smart phone it also offers 4G LTE support but not for India. Other features include Bluetooth 4.0, DLNA and NFC support. 
 
The Looks:
Not all phones are created equally and HTC One is certainly not the part of the crowd rather it stands out in the crowd with its distinct sleek and slender looks. The phone comes with top and bottom speaker grill that subtly accentuates with the overall look of the phone. HTC One offers great ergonomics and perfectly fits in your hand and gives you a premium feeling to it.
 
Camera:
The company has deviated from using usual Mega Pixel count in its camera. HTC one uses ultrapixel, this is a first of its kind and the company claims this to boost the image quality and will give great low-light photography. The HTC One’s Ultrapixel camera creates larger-than-normal pixels where each pixel captures up to 300% more light. The primary camera is 4 MP and the secondary camera is 2.1 MP with 1080p video calling.  The camera performance is good both indoor and outdoor and has a good color sharpness and reproduction. However the photo lacks the usual detail that is expected form a camera that claims to capture 300% more light nevertheless it offers more accurate color rendering than iPhone 5.
 
OS and User Interface
HTC One runs on latest Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and use Sense 5 UI v5 that includes some custom apps. The Home screen is called Blink Feed which has a similar feel to social new app Flipboard. The function of Blink Feed is to push updates from local news channel like NDTV, Hindustan Times, India Today, and Aaj Tak. Once can also configure social networking account like Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, LinkedIn and Plurk and receive updates on Blink feed. HTC’s Gallery app allows users to browse images and videos on the phone and through online cloud services like Dropbox or Facebook, Flickr, and Picasa. The phone offers a 3-finger output gesture where users can use certain gestures to control alerts. 
 
Battery Life:
HTC One comes with a 2300mAh battery and with moderate usage the battery can last up to 11-12 hours. Altering various settings like screen brightness, wi-fi, BlueTooth, and network setting can increase the battery power for longer duration.
 
Verdict:
The phone is well-built, looks good and offers some top-end features unlike other smart phones in this range. The body is well crafted and sleek design will make any style conscious user look more sophisticated. Innovative feature like ultrapixel camera is a great addition to the phone. Latest Android OS and many premium features HTC One is loaded with some great features. This phone will retail for Rs 42,000 in India and that is where the comparison begins. 
 
Those who are looking for a gorgeous smart phone stuffed with innovative features then this phone is for them. Though the price is on a higher side compared to some other brands nevertheless it offers some innovation in that price difference. You can also look at other options like Sony Xperia Z and upcoming Samsung Galaxy S4.
