  • Top Technology Trend to Watch for in 2015
altThe year 2014 was dominated by wearable technology with all top level companies like Apple, Sony, Samsung, Lenovo and LG launching one or more products in the wearable segment. The year 2015 promises to be more interesting and energetic. The recently concluded CES 2015 event proved that companies are still betting big on wearable technology. One of the major growth factors in the segment is the healthcare and wellness. There are still plenty of other technologies that will play a prominent role to shape human kind in the year 2015.
 
1. Internet of Things
Every gadget we use today is connected with other gadget through internet. Information is being shared constantly among the gadgets. Year 2015 will see an extension of this technology where things that we see around us will be connected to us through one or more digital medium. Your refrigerator will communicate with your smartwatch, your car will offer you a comfortable ride just by looking at your behavior a restaurant owner will serve you your favorite food without you telling him, your doctor will collect important health parameters of your body and tailor your medicine accordingly with minimum side effects. You will be moving yet be connected to the world around you. The applications of Internet of Things are immense – Smart cities, airports, café, house etc.
 
2. Wearable Technology
Though 2014 saw launch of many wearable tech products but it did not become mass selling product. The year 2015 will set out a trend where many more people will be using wearable tech and enjoy its benefits. From your fashion accessories to healthcare products will have digital technology embedded in it to offer you a life comfortable.
 
3. Mobile Payment
With Apple entering mobile payment segment, with Apple Pay, there is some stiff competition to the current players like CurrentC and Google Wallet. With the rise of mobile payment popularity and convenience it offers to consumers it seems consumption of Credit Card will go down in the near future. With Smart watches and smart phones implementing NFC features it seems 2015 will see increased usage of mobile payment.
 
4. Online Security
With hackers targeting many premium sites like Sony, Home depot, Adobe, Apple etc the online security has become a major area of concern. Hence companies in the year 2015 will invest more money in online security to make it fool-proof. Every year companies incur billions of dollars of losses due to cyber attack and hence going forward investment and new development in online security will gain momentum.
 
5. Virtual Reality
Facebook, Sony, Samsung and Google are trying their hands at Virtual Reality, which has plenty of applications at the enterprise level.  Recent purchase of Oculus, a Next Generation Virtual Reality company by Facebook has been in the direction of this pursuit. With VR people interact with variety of visual content in very different way – playing games, looking at for 3D model prototype has taken on a new dimension with VR devices. Many companies are actively building applications to integrate with these devices and experience a new world.
